Doulos SIL Compact, designed by Walt Agee, Victor Gaultney, Peter Martin, and Debbi Hosken of SIL International, is a free traditional serif font. Its tall, open letters combine pronounced thick-thin contrast with crisp, gently bracketed serifs and a calm bookish texture.
Language, scholarship, and archival subjects are its clearest territory. It suits dictionaries, academic publishing, and museum interpretation, where the restrained drawing supports serious material without looking severe.
