TeX Gyre Termes, developed by Valek Filippov, Han The Thanh, B. Jackowski and J.M. Nowacki of URW++ Design & Development, is a free transitional serif with pronounced thick-thin contrast. Its bracketed serifs, narrow proportions and crisp strokes give the lettering a newspaper texture.
Editors and publishers can use it for newspaper headlines, book covers and magazine features. The compact shapes suit serious subject matter. Beside documentary photography or engraved illustrations, its sharp serifs echo fine lines and detail.
