Occidental

Occidental, a free serif display font by Alltype, uses a narrow hairline structure and tall, almost architectural rhythm to give the lettering a quiet late-19th-century flavor. The large round capitals and spare lowercase forms keep the texture airy, while the small pointed serif details stop it from feeling neutral or merely geometric.

It makes sense on book covers, boutique packaging, magazine mastheads, restaurant menus, and fashion branding where a refined silhouette can do most of the talking. Short titles and initials especially benefit from its long verticals and open curves, which give even simple words a formal, slightly theatrical presence.
