Trapped Light

Trapped Light, Steve Stull's free eroded display font, has the blunt drama of old ink-heavy poster lettering with the edges rubbed and softened by wear. The letters are broad, dark, and slightly uneven, with rounded nicks, pinched openings, and a hand-cut feel that keeps the caps looking tough rather than slick.

It works well for horror posters, garage-band flyers, pulp-inspired book covers, title cards, and bold packaging where a rough printed voice fits the mood. As a free font, it also suits short headlines and monograms, because the heavy shapes and distressed cuts give even a few letters a weathered, press-ink presence.
